Qualche mese fa ho avuto la fortuna di trascorrere due settimane in Polinesia Francese. Appena sbarcati a Papeete siamo andati a visitare il mercato che è famoso in tutto il mondo per i suoi colori sgargianti. Il mercato ci è piaciuto così tanto che qualche giorno dopo abbiamo preso il traghetto da Moorea per tornarci ed è capitato proprio che fosse il giorno dei Morti. Il luogo si è così riempito di composizioni floreali mai viste prima. I polinesiani hanno davvero un rapporto meraviglioso con i fiori e al mercato mi è sembrato di vedere la massima espressione di questa loro caratteristica.

A parte i fiori credo che sia molto importante assaggiare il mercato di Papeete. Questo luogo è infatti ricchissimo di sapori per noi nuovi. Anche se era veramente presto, abbiamo deciso di mangiare un poisson cru e dei panini ripieni. Sfortunatamente a causa delle 20 ore di volo non sono riuscita a capire cosa stavo mangiando, ma era veramente tutto delizioso!

Vi lascio quindi qualche foto del mercato e dei suoi prodotti che non posso spiegarvi perché…non mi è chiaro cosa fossero tutte quelle cose meravigliose!

Some months ago I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in French Polynesia. As soon as we landed in Papeete, we went to visit the market, famous for its bright colors.

We loved it so much that some days later we took the ferry from Moorea to see it again. It was the All Soul’s Day and the entire market was filled with outstanding flower arrangements. Polynesians have a very strong bond with flowers, not only they put tiare flowers on their hair every day, they create the most beautiful flower decorations I’ve ever seen.

 

The Papeete market is also a food experience. I recommend everyone to be brave and taste things even if it’s not clear what they are. It was very early in the morning when I went there and after 22 hours of flight I was completely unaware of what I was eating, but it was delicious! The two things the surprised me the most were poisson cru and some bread filled with chicken.

I will share with you some pictures of the market and its product. Unfortunately I can’t explain you what these things exactly are because I actually…don’t know it!
